A Brief History of M. M. College - Jessore.

To enlighten the people of Jessore District of the country, Bangladesh with higher education the people of Jessore decided to establish a college named M. M. College after the name of the world famous poet Michael Modhusudan Dutt born in Jessore. The college was first started in July,1941 in Narail Jamider House in Jessore town with about 100 students in Arts and Commerce groups. The founder Principal was Dr. DN Roy MA. Ph.D . During the Second World War Dr. DN Roy left the college and nobody knew his whereabouts. Due to the World War the college was destroyed much and it was temporarily shifted to the house of Dr Jiban Ratan Dhar where the present fire brigade office stands. After one year the college was reshifted to its initial place. In 1962 the Arts and Commerce faculties were shifted to its new campus in Khorki beside the stadium. The college was provincialised in May,1968. 

At present it is a renowned college in the south-west part of Bangladesh providing Honours and Masters Courses in 17 subjects. Here the students are given adequate library and laboratory facilities with modern equipment's . In the campus there is a highly equipped Foreign Language Training Center providing facilities at present to learn English and Arabic. The college has its own water supply facilities.Tender has already been invited to construct an 11 kv electric substation in the campus. There are two residential halls for the female students and also two for the male students each having the capacity to accommodate one hundred students. The college has its reputation all over the country in both academic and cultural fields.

Shahid Nur-Ali College, is the most renowned educational institution in Kaligonj, Jhenaidah district. It was established in 1998 by the earnest effort of some personalities of the then Kaligonj sub-division who had keen interest in education.

Renowned social worker, Shahid Nur-Ali Mia was the founder of Shahid Nur-Ali College. He donated the land and money so that the college was named after him. This college is located at the heart of the town.

Govt. K,C, College is a short name of Govt. Keshob Chandra College. Govt.K.C.College is the most renowned and the largest educational institution in Jhenidah district. It was established in 1960 by the earnest effort of some personalities of the then Jhenidah sub-division who had keen interest in education.

Renowned social worker, Babu Keshop Chandra was the founder of Keshob Chandra College. He donated the main building (the present office of the principal) and land so that the college was named after him. This college is located at the heart of the town.

I can not but remember the name of Mr. M.K. Anwar (C.S.P), S.D.O of the then Jhenidah sub-division, played the pioneering role in the establishment of this college. The College was nationalized in 1980. At present this college offers higher secondary education, Degree (pass course), Four years honours course in 14 disciplines and Masters Programmers in 5 disciplines.

Geographically Magura and Chuadanga are to districts its East and West respectively. Again Kushtia and Jessore districts are to its north and south respectively.

ছায়া ঢাকা, পাখি ডাকা স্নীগ্ধ শ্যামল সবুজ গ্রাম বিষয়খালী, দক্ষিণে শীর্ণ, ক্লান্ত স্রোতস্বিনী বেগবতী নদী। উত্তরে মায়াধরপুর ও কুলবাড়িয়া, পূর্বে ডাকাতিয়া ও তেতুলবাড়িয়া, পশ্চিমে কেশবপুর ‌৭নং মহারাজপুর ইউনিয়নের প্রাণ কেন্দ্র, ঢাকা খুলনা মহাসড়কের উত্তর পাশে বিষয়খালী বাজার। ১৯৬৯ সালে পূর্ব পাকিস্তান থাকা কালীন অবস্থায় তrকালীন ঝিনাইদহ মহাকুমার সদর থানার অন্তর্গত ৭নং মহারাজপুর ইউনিয়নের বিষয়খালী, কেশবপুর, মহারাজপুর গ্রামের কিছুসংখ্যক ত্যাগের মহিমায় সমুজ্জল শিক্ষানুরাগী ও সমাজসেবক ব্যক্তির অক্লান্ত প্রচেষ্ঠায় বিশেষ করে মো: আব্দুর রহিম শাহ, মো: বাহাদুর সরর্দার, শ্রী কানাইলাল রায়, হাদান আলী জর্দার, শামসুদ্দিন বিশ্বাস, ছবেদ আলী বিশ্বাস, ওয়াজির আলী, অনুকুল ভূষণ মূখার্জ্জী, বিশ্বনাথ ঘোষ, শুকুর আলী, খন্দোকার বাবুর আলী ও অনেক গন্যমান ব্যক্তির প্রত্যক্ষ ও পরোক্ষ্ সহযোগিতায় বিষয়খালী বাজারের উত্তর-পূর্ব পাশে উল্লেখিত ব্যক্তিগণের আর্থিক ও জমি দানের মাধ্যমে ১৯৬৯ সালে বিষয়খালী জুনিয়র স্কুল নামে একটি শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান তৈরীতে অগ্রণী ভূমিকা পালন করেন।

১৯৭১ সালে শুরু হয় বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধ । এই যুদ্ধের সাথে বিদ্যালয়টির রয়েছে একটি সুদীর্ঘ ইতিহাস। ১৯৭১ সালের ১লা এপ্রিল এই বিদ্যালয়ের উত্তর পাশে বাংলাদেশের বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধারা প্রথম প্রতিরোধ ব্যবস্থা গড়ে তোলে। সেদিন পাকিস্তানি হানাদার বাহিনী সর্বপ্রথম এখানে এসে ব্যাপক প্রতিরোধের সম্মুখীন হয়। সারাদিন রক্তক্ষয়ি যুদ্ধেরপর পাক-হানাদার বাহিনী সন্ধ্যার আগে এখান থেকে পিছু হটে যশোর সেনানিবাসে ফিরে যেতে বাধ্য হয় । ১লা  এপ্রিলের প্রথম প্রতিরোধ সংগ্রামে অনেক মুক্তিযোদ্ধা শহীদ হন। তাদের মধ্যে অন্যতম ছিলেন তরুন সাহসী বীর শহীদ মুক্তিযোদ্ধা গোলাম মোস্তাফা । তিনি ছিলেন তrকালী প্রাদেশিক(পূর্ববাংলার) সংসদ সদস্য জনাব মো: ইকবাল হোসেন(ফকির মিয়া)-এর অন্যতম সুযোগ্য সন্তান। আর ১৯৭২ সালে সেই বীর শহীদ মুক্তিযুদ্ধা মোস্তফার নামে এবং তাকে চিরস্মরণীয়  করে রাখতে এলাকার মানুষ বিদ্যালয়টিকে বিষয়খালী শাহীদ মোস্তাফা মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয় নামে নামকরনের সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহন করে। তখন থেকেই বিদ্যালয়টি ‌‌”বিষয়খালী শহীদ মোস্তফা মাধ্যমিক” বিদ্যালয় নামে পরিচিত হয়। প্রতিষ্ঠা লগ্ন থেকেই প্রতিষ্ঠানটি এলাকাতে শিক্ষার আলো ছড়িয়ে চলেছে। ২০০৮ সালে সরকারী পৃষ্টপোষকতায় মুক্তিযুদ্ধের অনবদ্য অবদান ও স্বীকৃতিস্বরুপ সরকারী অনুদানে বিদ্যালয় প্রাঙ্গণে একটি ঐতিহাসিক স্মৃতি শৌধ নির্মিত হয়েছে। এই বিদ্যালয় হতে পাশকৃত অসংখ্য ছেলে-মেয়ে দেশের বিভিন্ন সরকারী ও বেসরকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানে কর্মরত আছে। বর্তমানে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি এলাকায় শিক্ষার মান উন্নয়ন, খেলাধুলা, সামাজিক কর্মকান্ডে ব্যাপক ভূমিকা পালন করে চলেছে। বর্তমানে ১.২৬ একর জমির উপর প্রতিষ্ঠিত প্রতিষ্ঠানটিতে একটি বিশাল খেলার মাঠ, একটি লাইব্রেরী, ২টি একাডেমিক ভবন, নিজস্ব কম্পিউটার রুম, ইন্টারনেট সংযোগসহ আছে বার্ষিক ক্রীড়া প্রতিযোগিতা, বিতর্ক প্রতিযোগিতার ব্যবস্থা। এখানে রয়েছে লেখাপড়ার পাশাপাশি বিভিন্ন সহশিক্ষা কার্যক্রমে অংশ গ্রহনের ব্যাপক সুযোগ। র্প্রতিষ্ঠানে প্রায় ৮ শতাধিক শিক্ষার্থী অধ্যায়নরত আছে। প্রতিষ্ঠানের পাবলিক পরীক্ষার ফলাফল অত্র এলাকার মধ্যে উল্লেখ করার মত। বর্তমানে প্রতিষ্ঠানে একঝাক তরুণ শিক্ষক-শিক্ষিকার অক্লান্ত পরিশ্রমের ফলে শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানটি ঝিনাইদহ জেলার মধ্যে  একটি আদর্শ শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে  পরিণত হয়েছে। প্রতিবছর এখান থেকে শতাধিক শিক্ষার্থী এস.এস.সি ও জে.এস.সি পরীক্ষায় পাশ করছে। এলাকার জনগণের দাবি ও প্রচেষ্ঠার ফলে ২০১০সালে অত্র প্রতিষ্ঠানটি  উচ্চমাধ্যমিক শাখার অনুমতি প্রাপ্ত হয়। এখানে একাদশ ও দ্বাদশ শ্রেণীতে প্রায় ২ শতাধিক শিক্ষার্থী অধ্যায়ন করছে। বর্তমানে সুযোগ্য নির্বাহী কমিটির একান্ত প্রচেষ্ঠা  ও তদারকিতে বিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার মান যে কোন উন্নত শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানের সংগে তুলনীয়।
